2009 America’s Best DJ • Z-Trip

Zach Sciacca, better known as Z-Trip, is an American DJ and producer. He is best known as a pioneer of the mashup movement and an award-winning global DJ. His skill as a world-class DJ has also afforded him success as a producer, working with the likes of LL Cool J, Kasabian and Dan the Automator. As of 2012, he has also been featured as hip-hop legend LL Cool J’s touring DJ in shows that have been described as so exemplary that the “crowd can barely handle the greatness,” and collaborated with the hip-hop star Talib Kweli on the mixtape Attack the Block.

2nd Place • Steve Porter

Steve Porter (born c. 1978) is a music video producer, remixer and DJ originally from Amherst, Massachusetts. Porter, who began producing music at the age of sixteen while attending The Williston Northampton School, was discovered by Chris Fortier in 1999 and was signed to Fortier’s Fade Records label. Since this time he has toured the world extensively on DJ tours and has released numerous remixes and original productions using his own name and monikers Chop Shop, Driven Child, Saturated Fatty, HDF & Bons and Agent 001 with fellow Boston DJ/producer Eli Wilkie.

A genuine DJ legend, Qbert is a turntablist who makes other jocks stand back in awe. Hailing from the San Francisco area, QBert gained fame as a competition-winning battle jock and as one-fifth of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz DJ crew. Always the innovator, QBert’s repertoire of scratches and other tricks has won a global following of fans and vinyl-fetish DJs.

4th Place • Kaskade

The New York Times may have called him the “new face of electronic dance music” in a recent profile, but Ryan Raddon, known as Kaskade, has been in the trenches of the EDM scene as an original recording artist and in-demand DJ for more than a decade. He has released seven studio albums,, scored nine Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay Chart, created chart-topping remixes for everyone from Lady Gaga to Beyoncé, appeared at all the major summer festivals, and has performed between 150 and 200 headlining shows a year for the last 10 years, building a name for himself as an innovator of the EDM scene as we know it today.

 5th Place • Scotty Boy

Voted one of the Top 10 DJ’s in America the past few years by Pioneer DJ & DJ Times Magazine and ranked in the Top 100 DJ’s in the world on TheDJlist.com, DJ Scotty Boy is now putting his over 20 years of crowd rocking experience to work in the studio. In 2009 Scotty Boy teamed up with Houston’s DJ Red and the duo has released several tracks including 4am in Vegas, Zombies On The Dancefloor, What The Fuck, Discoteka, Wonderland, Warface and Go Fuck Yourself, just to name a few. In 2011 Scotty Boy & good friend Revolvr had a Billboard Dance Chart #1 hit with the remix of Luciana’s “I’m Still Hot”. Joshua Paul “Josh” Davis (born June 29, 1972), better known by his stage name DJ Shadow, is an American music producer and DJ. He is a prominent figure in the development of instrumental hip hop and first gained notice with the release of his highly acclaimed debut album “Endtroducing…..”. He has an exceptionally large personal record collection, with over 60,000 records. He is the cousin of singer and guitarist Richie Kotzen.

 

7 | Danny Tenaglia
The tale of Danny Tenaglia’s love affair with music, and the world’s subsequent romance with him, is one of the critical veins in the body of dance music. 8 | Cedric Gervais
Gervais was born in Marseille, and was the youngest resident ever at Paris’s Le Queen Club. In 1998, he moved to America’s South Beach. Despite being only 15 years old when he left for Miami, he soon held residencies at Crobar (now Cameo) and the famous Nikki Beach, before taking over the Club Space Terrace. His first single, “Burning”, was with Ultra Records. In 2006, his debut album The Experiment, featured the single “Spirit in My Life”, also on Ultra Records. His production credits include working with Lenny Kravitz, Deep Dish, Steve Lawler, and Rachel Star, among others.

 

9 | DJ Enferno
As a kid, ENFERИO spliced together tracks from his favorite cassette tapes to create seamless mix tapes. Soon after getting his first DJ setup, ENFERИO (also a trained pianist) practiced for hours a day, and played local parties. After graduating college, ENFERИO saw a tape of the DMC DJ competitions, and was hooked. A few years later, he won the DMC USA Championship (2nd in the Worlds), and made music his career. In 2006, ENFERИO created the next progression in live DJ performance: the Live Remix Project (LRP).
