Mile High Party & Bassgasm Beats

Denver – The America’s Best DJ Summer Tour Presented by Pioneer DJ & DJ Times rolls on, and this week it’s an uphill climb—a mile high, to be exact.

We’re here in Denver for Global Dance Festival which runs Friday thru Sunday (July 19-21) at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, one of America’s most spectacular music venues. Produced by Triad Dragons Entertainment, GDF presents three very distinctive programs this weekend.

Tonight offers two stages with more of a hippie vibe—the always engaging Beats Antique tops the bill, along with acts like EOTO and Conspirator. Saturday’s program features three stages and soars in a trancey direction with Sander van Doorn, Arty and Emma Hewitt rocking the main stage.

Then Sunday drops the bass and offers sets from five America’s Best DJ nominees. Seven Lions and Craze grace the Global Bass Stage, while MiMOSA, Baauer and RL Grime kick it on the main GlobalDanceMusic.com stage.

Bring your bottled water and prepare for a Rocky Mountain party. Of course, DJ Times will be there with a dedicated booth at the top of the venue, taking votes for ABDJ nominees. Remember, one lucky voter (online or at one of the ABDJ events) will win a trip for two to Las Vegas for the ABDJ Closing Party/Award Ceremony at Marquee Nightclub on Oct. 13.

Of course, last weekend got pretty crazy as well. DJ Times/America’s Best DJ was at Camp Bisco in Mariaville, N.Y., where we caught 10 ABDJ nominees (Bassnectar, Baauer, Crizzly, Designer Drugs, Dillon Francis, Flosstradamus, Paper Diamond, RL Grime, Seven Lions, and Wolfgang Gartner).

Additionally, we hit Minnesota’s Twin Cities for Bassgasm 9. Held at the legendary First Avenue club in downtown Minneapolis, the nine-hour Bassgasm offered five environments blasting acid, house, techno, dubstep and drum-n-bass. ABDJ nom and local fave Soviet Panda kicked a tough techno set, while headliner Goldie rocked the main room with a crunching d-n-b set. Big thanks go to promoter Woody McBride (aka DJ ESP) for all the hospitality and to the Twin Cities fans for another memorable evening of beat-driven camaraderie.

Off to Red Rocks!
