New York City – After three nights of festival frolic and two sessions of club craziness in Sin City, America’s Best DJ Summer Tour Presented by Pioneer DJ & DJ Times heads home for two Gotham events.
This past weekend, we maintained a dedicated ABDJ booth at Electric Daisy Carnival, which drew more than 300,000 crazed EDM fans to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We took votes for ABDJ nominees playing EDC, and they included A-Trak, Alvin Risk, Baauer, Cedric Gervais, Claude VonStroke, Crizzly, Dillon Francis, Diplo (with Major Lazer), DJ Craze, Dubfire, Flosstradamus, Green Velvet, Kill the Noise, Krewella, Manufactured Superstars, Max Vangeli, Morgan Page, Nadastrom, Porter Robinson, Tommie Sunshine, Tritonal, 12th Planet, Victor Calderone, and Wolfgang Gartner.
The size of the event and the detail that went into its production is hard to accurately describe, so make sure you take a look at the imagery—massive. Some of the stages compared to Europe’s largest festivals and the fireworks were on par with any military 4th of July party. And the costumes? All over the map—from Daft Punk to Deadmau5, from generic candy-rave fare to penguins and Road Warriors. We even saw one brave fellow wearing only a red frightwig, heels and a diaper. Yes.

Additionally, we hunkered down at Marquee Dayclub this past Friday, for Blake Jarrell’s impressive opening set for Dutch trance king Armin van Buuren. The following night, we maintained the voting booth at Marquee Nightclub for Kaskade, the 2011 ABDJ champ, who blew the room away with another installment of his Summer Lovin’ residency. And did he ever get some support at the ballot box.
Tonight, we’ll be at Don Coqui in Astoria, Queens, for an evening of Latin jams with ABDJ nominee DJ Creme, who will play from 10 pm to midnight. Also, Creme’s set will be simulcast on NYC’s X 96/3 FM, “La Mezcla de New York.” ¡Hasta luego!
Quick turnaround for Friday, as we’ll be at Marquee New York for an evening with one of our favorite West-Coast house practitioners—Miguel Migs. As will be the case at Don Coqui tonight, we’ll maintain a dedicated ABDJ booth and take votes for your favorite DJs.
Remember, at ABDJ tour stops and online are automatically entered to win a trip for two to Las Vegas for the ABDJ Award Ceremony/Closing Party at the Marquee Nightclub, set for Oct. 13. And fans who Like America’s Best DJ on Facebook or Follow America’s Best DJ on Twitter are automatically entered to win one of many weekly prizes from Pioneer DJ and DJ Times.
We’ll see you on the dancefloor.
