The International DJ Expo returned to the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel & Casino this past Aug. 11-14 & scored big raves from attendees & exhibitors alike. The star-studded show offered parties with hitmaking artists like Akon, Cyndi Lauper, Michelle Williams & Chris Willis, plus special events with DJ legend Grandmaster Flash.

The DJ Expo was incredible this year! Bigger, better, badder! I laughed, I
cried, heck, I was even offended!

Who would have thought the DJ Expo could have gotten any better...well
it did!! Now if I could only do something about male pattern baldness"

Thanks!

The DJ Expo is the only trade show I know of where the attendees retreat to the casino to rest their ears <LOL>. But seriously, this year’s show was the best ever. We had a lot of fun, conversed with many wonderful entertainment professionals and enjoyed showcasing our products in the QSC booth and on the performance stage. See you next year.

In my opinion this years Expo was a great improvement over last years... I felt the show was well organized and the foot traffic through the Pioneer booth was really good. I think having the show back at the Taj was a great move. Also spinning on that stage was great. There wasn't a bad seat in the house and the lounge area was very inviting. The sound was great and the screen were a perfect size. Also the fact that you guys didn't crowd the stage with a bunch of performances was good.... It allowed everyone to visit the vender booths and periodically enjoy a show on the main stage.

I wanted to offer a world of thanks to everyone involved with the I DJ NOW booths at the International DJ Expo this past week. Our booths were really exciting and a complete success due in part to your support.

This year the DJ Expo seemed well attended and attendees seemingly stuck around and or came back to the show more frequently each day than we've seen in the past few years. In our opinion this was mainly in part to the venue taking place at The Taj Mahal. The Taj was great as there were so many food options for attendees and also the Boardwalk was right there for an easy on/off experience rather than the stranded mode over at the Sheraton in previous years. This was a great move by show management and everyone (I do mean every attendee I spoke to was happy it was there vs. the convention center). Additionally, this year Testa management actually gave out more free passes which my staff feels was an added benefit for many who otherwise may not have showed.

This year was particularly concerning as the economy is challenging as it is, not to mention price IN-CREASES for many products.

Our sales at the show were as projected and we look forward to residual sales as a result of the marketing efforts from this show as well.

Again, many thanks for your support.

Just when you thought the greatest DJ show couldn’t get even better, it definitely did at this years International DJ Expo at the Taj Mahal.

Thanks!

I had a blast DJing on the DJ TIMES performance stage with the new
Pioneer SVM1000 Mixer and QSC Sound system. Everyone that I met at the
DJ Expo was very nice and passionate about the industry. Most DJs seam
to understand that they have to be open to new ideas and business models
to evolve and stay relevant in the industry.

For Music Trends it was our best show ever. Taj Mahal gets my vote for next year. It just felt right.

I just wanted to thank you for such an Amazing Expo this week! This was my first time attending the conference and I had a great time. The amount of information and ideas that I learned over the past week is unbelievable. I loved how you started out the Expo with a bang when you got everyone up and dancing. The mock showcase, and “DJ of the Year” show was also a lot of fun. I definitely plan on heading "Back to the Boardwalk" again next summer. Hope to see you there next year!

Thanks again,

Thank you very much for having us on the panel as it was a great experience. The Expo this year was truly over the top and we would love to do another panel for you again.

“This has been the 3rd year I took part in the DJ Expo as an Exhibitor and the 8th time attending the Expo. The last few years of the Expo at Convention Center I noticed less attendees and more attendees feeling disappointed. This was the year to make a change and bring the EXPO back to Life. With hard economic times and insane gas prices I was nervous about the turn out and if I would move any products due to DJ’s tightening up their budgets.

However 2008 brought new light to the Expo, a new location, a new feel and new DJ of year winner! The Taj was a perfect match and having all of the exhibits, events, parties, food and gambling all in the same building was ideal. The best part was the Turn Out…. The floor was packed and it stayed packed! The parties were also a big hit, and not having to spend a fortune on cab rides was the icing on the CAKE.”

The 2008 international dj expo showed the quest for knowledge and the brother and sisterhood of fellow djs from different parts of the country is still alive. It was refreshing to see all the new people and the old timers that are technologically savvy. My favorite part of the expo is always the technology panel that I am on every year. We always go over the 1 hour time.

Just wanted to take a moment to tell you what I am sure you already know....FANTASTIC DJ EXPO!  Great job this year, and what a fabulous celebration it was!  I am sure that this is the beginning of a turning point for our industry for all to take notice that DJ Expo is really the only one that "get's it right"!  I think this year, many who have not attended in a while, and many new folks got a chance to see why we all adore you and what you are doing!

Thanks for your hospitality, and please be sure to thank Vinny, Robin, John, and the entire team.  We at Catz look forward to being a part of next year in a bigger way, to build upon what we started at Boogie Nights this year.  We see ourselves as filling the the niche of providing a "let your hair down" shindig which combines interest of both the mobiles and the club DJ base, but also one which allows the "music fans" an op to see and meet the folks who keep them moving throughout the year.

Thanks again for just being you, and please know that Earl Young had the time of his life!  He really enjoyed the panel, and learned a lot himself from both the panel and the tradeshow!  He was like a kid in a "candy store"!

Congrats on DJx20 and the International DJ Expo 2008!

Best Regards,
Catherine R. LaPorte, Catz Entertainment, Oceanside, NY

Albert here...

Just wanted to first off THANK YOU for letting me be a part of the Remixer/Producer Panel - I had a great time,
and I actually learned a few things from Chris Cox!  lol.

Second -  I wanted to say how great this year's convention was!!!  I had the best time I've had at a convention in a long time.
This year's turnout was just fantastic.
It was like WMC 10 years ago, when you could actually find and TALK to people in the industry and didnt have to fight all the
young and drunk spring breakers!  lol.
And all the Parties were off the hook!  Gary's on Monday night, and Cary's on Tuesday night...  so just wanted to Congratulate you on that.
I am so glad that so many Industry people came out to support dance music and DJs.

If you ever need me for future panels or clinics or whatever, consider it done.
I will always support this convention and the magazine in any way I can.

Thanks again Jim.

The 2008 DJ Expo was a great way to learn and experience all the new digital tools available for the professional DJ. It was also an incredible networking opportunity, helping Netmix Media forge important new relationships that will enhance our online and digital products going forward. As DJing has moved from two simple turntables and a mixer to advanced digital tools, its amazing to watch how performers like DJ Theo or Roonie G. have incorporated the new mechanics of the digital DJ into their audio and video sets. The DJ Expo certainly is an important vehicle to experience these creative and technological enhancements, which certainly give DJs more to offer their demanding clientele.

Having started DJing around 1986 and working regularly as a DJ and remixer/producer through 1998 when I started practicing law, I've been a long-time reader of DJ Times. This year's show was the first DJ Expo I ever attended, and I now regret having not attended when I was a working DJ. The sessions and panels were first class, and there was a true excitement in the air for dance music and DJing. It was great to see old friends who remembered me from my years of remixing with Ultimix Records. The highlight for me was the keynote address with Grandmaster Flash.

DJ Expo 2008 was a hit! Excellent DJ turn out with lots of interest in our poducts. I believe the return to the Boardwalk was a good call, now all we need to do is get Vinny to break-dance and we would catch the world on fire.

The show gave us the opportunity to put a face to the customers we deal with over the phone and to meet new people, too. Meeting and Greeting people at the VIP parties on a more personal level enhanced Sherman's novelty business. The VIP events after the convention were a big hit — the icing over the DJ Convention cake.

The International DJ Expo was worth traveling from Canada for! From the opening day kickoff to the show floor to the evening events to the Ultimate DJ System Giveaway on the last day…there was always something to keep us busy and interested. Fun times, meeting up with old friends and all the great ideas we came home with. This year’s show had it all!

The DJ Times Expo never fails to disappoint me. I always come back to my business refreshed and excited from all the new information I learn as well as all the new friends and contacts that I gain. I was proud to be one of the seminar presenters at this year's show and I hope the New Jersey Disc Jockey Network has a long relationship with DJ Times.
