The
High End
The Technobeam
automated luminaire is now available with an iris. According
to the company, the luminaire's chassis was remodeled so the
iris could be added as an option. From now on, all models in
production at High End will be the Technobeam-i. Both Technobeam
products are the same size, use the same stock patterns and
are compatible. The Technobeam-I does run on new software. The
software is available for the Status Cue console, Whole Hog
and the Technobeam LCD controller. To
distinguish between the two models, the sidelogo label colors
were inverted. The previous Technobeam model had the Techno-beam
name in black print on a silver background. The Techno-beam-I
has the name printed in silver on a solid black background.

Portable
Speakers from JBL

The new SR-X Series of live sound reinforcement
loudspeakers from JBL Professional uses the same technology
found in the company's high-end tour sound systems in a portable
package for clubs and other mobile applications. The SR-X is
available in 11 different configurations. The series' Vented
Gap Cooling low frequency transducers control heat buildup to
increase power handling and decrease power compression. Pure
titanium diaphragm compression drivers are mounted to Optimized
Aperture horns, while newly designed crossover networks improve
sound quality, according to
the company. For
applications requiring suspension of the speaker systems, all
SR-X models (except subwoofer and stage monitor models) are
available as SR-X/F versions with four "L-track" flying
points that accommodate "fly clip" fittings for portable
use and forged 10mm eyebolts for fixed installations.

ADJ's
Orbiting Trio

The Force is with this new line of space-like
effects from American DJ. The Space Balls, Mini-Saucer and Multi-Star
are centerpieces so small that they can be set up on top of
a mobile DJ's speakers, while filling an entire club with shooting
stars, meteors and other "outer space" effects. The
Space Balls unit projects dozens of moving white pin beams,
creating an effect of shooting stars. The Mini-Saucer adds multi-hued
beams of light that spin and tumble. A revolving, satellite-shaped
dish with 28 multi-colored lenses creates the effect. The Multi-Star
is a cluster of five rotating balls, each producing a different
color of light. Together, the balls
project 75 rotating and criss-crossing lightbeams, all at one
time.

Community's
Low Frequency Horn

Community Professional
Loudspeakers has introduced the R6 low frequency horn system.
Designed to complement horn-loaded mid/high systems that normally
require multiple direct radiator LF systems, Community says
the R6 complements systems such as the M4 midrange driver and
the R2 Series of full-range systems. At 250 Hz, the R6's dispersion
pattern is 110 degrees horizontal by 80 degrees vertical. Six
Ferrofluid-cooled 15-inch LF driver coupled to a single horn
give the speaker a 43-Hz flare rate and an operating range from
45 Hz to 300 Hz, with a 1 watt/1 meter sensitivity of 107 dB
SPL.
