It wasn’t supposed to happen this way for Leor DiMant. I mean, it was, of course, in some ways, meant to be this way—world tours, sold-out arenas, girls eager to make his acquaintance, fluted glasses of champagne, exercise bike and a masseuse in the dressing room, filet mignon, top-shelf, top rung, top dog. Just file under “allgood.” But not in this manner—no, it was not supposed to happen in quite this manner for Leor DiMant.

What the DJ's will be doing...

Succumbing to the incessant din of conversation regarding the upcoming “Millennium Parties” this December 31, DJ Times decided to find out how various club jocks around the globe will approach their gigs on this rare occasion. In order to present a somewhat egalitarian result and get some useful answers, we decided to strip away some of the hype. That is, we contacted some of the world’s more recognizable jocks (many of whom are also artists, producers and/or remixers) along with lesser-known, but no less valuable, working DJs.

Fattening Your Sound
Make Your Rig Sound Bigger

DJs are always looking for ways to beef up their sound. I constantly hear the same questions over and over again from my clients. “What can I do to make my rig sound bigger?” “How can I get that extra boost on the bottom end?” “Which effects should I use to make my mix sound cooler?”
In truth, nothing but the best subs will give you that crazy big-ass bottom end, but there are pieces of gear that can improve your sound. As for the sonic wizardry that can add to a DJ or remixer’s sound, I am reminded of a Notorious B.I.G. song, “The Sky’s The Limit.” I’ll take a look at some concepts in regard to fattening up your sound and then get into some gear that could change your mixes forever.
