Denon's DN-2100F

New to Denon’s line of professional CD players is the DN-2100F, which features a seamless loop capability, two per drive, on a CD and allows instant switching between the two loop sets. A Hot Start Stutter control lets you start at two different cue points “on the fly,” while in Stutter mode, two cue points can be used for “cue point sampling,” meaning when you hold the button down, those cue points will stutter. To those wary of the CD player’s encroachment on turntables, the DN-2100F includes a Brake and Platter-S mode. The Brake does just what you think it would: it stops the CD quickly, so it sounds more like vinyl, designed to be like the Stop function on a turntable. Platter-S is designed to imitate the “dragging” sound that occurs when you turn your decks on or off while they’re playing. A Digi-Scratch feature lets you scratch in real time ‘til your heart’s content, just as you would with vinyl. Other features, like Key Adjust, let you change a song’s key without changing its playback speed, while a Jog Bend/Pitch Bend will change the key just for a moment. Denon has designed this to help you fine tune beats while you’re beatmixing. Should you need instant and seamless control over up to four different cue points, Denon’s got you covered with its Fader Start function, designed to give you playback control through the crossfader of a compatible fader start mixer. Large character FL tube and LED displays, Instant Start and ShockProof Memory round out the DN-2100F.

Numark’s DM 1295 is a stereo preamp mixer that comes with an onboard sampler. Designed for the mobile DJ as well as club installations, the mixer features eight line, three phono and two mic inputs. The crossfader is fully assignable and replaceable. Clubland gets a new lighting effect from ADJ. The 4-Play is a sound activated lighting fixture that gives you four tornado-like funnel images. Each image is projected separately and each can be a different color. Each light has an independent motorized dichroic mirror, which can, in turn, feature a different color. QSC's DSP-3

QSC’s DSP-3 is a digital signal processor designed to relieve you of the need for expensive outboard processing gear and to give you more room in your racks. The DSP-3 has two channels of independent digital signal processing, including crossover filters, shelf filters, signal delay, compression, peak limiting, parametric filters in one module that you can attach to the back of DataPort-equipped amplifiers. You can configure it using the “drag-and-drop” software application. You can use the DSP “toolbox” with icons and simple drawing tools to configure processing functions and signal flow. The software also gives you real time control and lets you save configurations so you can recall them to use in the future. The host interface is through an RS-232 serial port. Replacing Gemini’s PT-1000 11 is the PT-2100, a high-torque, direct drive, quartz lock professional turntable. This model features a locking platter reverse button in “battle position,” three speed (33, 45 and 78) RPM, pitch control of +\- 10-percent, pitch bend and arm lift height adjustment.
