| Let’s
see: Is there any undertaking more difficult than a DJ tour that
uses only 45s as source material? I think not – unless, of
course, you’re DJ Swamp and customarily ignite yourself on
fire at every gig, but that’s another story.
Since
45s are generally recorded at a higher rate of compression, they’re
great for sampling – as Shadow and Jurassic 5’s Cut
Chemist did for their Brainfreeze mix CD. But to spin 45s, most
DJs would decline. (Can a Belt Drive and Radio Shack Mixer Tour
be a good idea?)

All Odds:
| Eight
years ago, in the backyard of his Ferryville, Wisconsin home, Brad
Myhre was horsing around with his friends near the swimming pool.
When he dove in, he didn’t realize it was the shallow end.
He landed on his head and, tragically, became paralyzed, with limited
movement in his arms, from the neck down.
But
that didn’t prevent Myhre from starting a mobile DJ business.
As a result, in the past year his life is piecing itself back together.
As
mobile DJs, most of us face various challenges ranging from bulbs
going out halfway through a school dance to misplacing the CD containing
the first dance for a wedding.
But
what if on top of all our usual challenges, we also faced each gig
with a major physical disability?
