Shadow Play:

Let’s see: Is there any undertaking more difficult than a DJ tour that uses only 45s as source material? I think not – unless, of course, you’re DJ Swamp and customarily ignite yourself on fire at every gig, but that’s another story.

Since 45s are generally recorded at a higher rate of compression, they’re great for sampling – as Shadow and Jurassic 5’s Cut Chemist did for their Brainfreeze mix CD. But to spin 45s, most DJs would decline. (Can a Belt Drive and Radio Shack Mixer Tour be a good idea?)

Against All Odds:

Eight years ago, in the backyard of his Ferryville, Wisconsin home, Brad Myhre was horsing around with his friends near the swimming pool. When he dove in, he didn’t realize it was the shallow end. He landed on his head and, tragically, became paralyzed, with limited movement in his arms, from the neck down.

But that didn’t prevent Myhre from starting a mobile DJ business. As a result, in the past year his life is piecing itself back together.

As mobile DJs, most of us face various challenges ranging from bulbs going out halfway through a school dance to misplacing the CD containing the first dance for a wedding.

But what if on top of all our usual challenges, we also faced each gig with a major physical disability?
