Elation
Comes Full Circle

Elation Professionals Color Spot-575 and
250 intelligent effects are DMX-compatible units that come with
colors, gobos and a moving yoke that rotates 360-degrees to
cover all corners of a club. Unlike scanners that pan and tilt
over a certain portion of a room, the Color Spot-575 and 250,
according to the company, cover a much bigger area, shooting
moving lights up to the ceiling. The Color Spot-575 and 250
have a pan movement range of 530-degrees in 2.65 seconds, and
a tilt movement range of 280-degrees in 1.68 seconds. Both units
feature automatic pan/tilt position correction.
In addition to their rotating yokes, the Color Spot-575 and
250 give you glass gobos, designed to allow more light through
for brighter images, and a rotating 3-facet prism and a combined
mechanical dimmer/shutter. Both units offer variable strobing,
ranging from 1-10 flashes per second.
Both effects are compatible with any DMX controller and feature
8 and 16-bit pan/tilt and 14-16 channels. A four-digit LED menu
gives you readouts on lamp usage and DMX values, remote lamp
on/off; and built-in self-test mode for all effects.
The Color Spot-575, designed for clubs, lets you mix colors
and overlay gobos on top of one another. It has two motorized
color wheels with 15 dichroic color filters (plus white), a
32k filter, 56k filter and UV filter. It also includes a motorized
iris that increases and decreases the size of the beam, a motorized
multi-step zoom with 15-, 18- and 22-inch apertures and a 575-watt
lamp.
For small spaces, the Color Spot-250 gives you the same 360-degree
rotating yoke as its larger sibling and has one motorized color
wheel with 11 dichroic colors (plus white), one motorized gobo
wheel with six interchangeable 27mm rotating glass gobos and
a 250-watt lamp.

AKG's
WMS 40
AKG’s WMS 40 UHF wireless system comes with features like an
SR 40 non-diversity receiver. The system gives you a balanced
XLR mic-level output and unbalanced TS line-level output jack
for interfacing with mixers and amps. Integrated SAW filters
are designed to protect the system from interference along with
an adjustable squelch to prevent any unwanted noise. Two front
panel LEDs give you a power and RF status reading. Its side
moldings with integrated feet are removable and an optional
rack mount kit allows the receiver to be installed on a standard
19-inch rack. The WMS HT 40 handheld transmitter uses a permanently
mounted microphone element and is fitted with a multi-function
ON/OFF/MUTE switch and integrated antenna. The PT 40 bodypack
transmitter is designed for both condenser and dynamic microphones
along with electronic instruments. About the size of a cigarette
pack, it includes a MIC/LINE selector and input level control
inside the battery compartment. The WMS 40 system operates on
a single, fixed frequency between 710 MHz and 865 MHz and gives
you a frequency response from 40 Hz to 20 kHz. It’s powered
by a set of two AA batteries.

The Many
Moons Of American DJ
Think you have enough lighting effects? American DJ has added
two new ones to its Commercial Series lighting fixtures. The
Star Winder and Alpha-Moon are two new DMX effects that can
work as stand-alone effects, and when linked in multiples with
other units of their type, will also move in opposite directions.
Each unit can be used with any external DMX controller, including
the American DJ Show Designer and DMX Operator, or can operate
on their own internal programs.
The Star Winder projects a jagged, X-shaped pattern across the
floor and can be customized to create cross-color patterns.
For example, if you want to create one full row of blue, to
intersect with one row of red, the Star Winder can be programmed
to produce it. You can also program the effect to stop on a
specific color using the ground controller. The Star Winder
features a heavy-duty higher optic lens and includes an AZ-64514
120V lamp with a 300W output. It features sound active operation
and an optional Mini/C controller (sold separately) to control
Black Out. The Star Winder is backed by a one year limited warranty.
The Alpha-Moon is a multi-colored, super moonflower effect with
an optical ZB-64514 120V 300W lamp, higher-optic lens and a
wide beam spread to reach the furthest corners of the dancefloor.
The U-shaped effects are designed to make dancers feel like
they’re on the surface of the moon.
Like the Star Winder, when used in multiples, the Alpha-Moon
can be programmed to synchronize moonbeams together, back and
forth and/or opposite. It can be operated with any DMX Controller
and an optional Mini/C controller (sold separately) is available
to control Black Out.

ConfettiWERKS
Up a Storm

ConfettiWERKS has introduced its ConfettiSTORM
automated confetti blaster. This self-contained launcher comes
in a case with two compartments. In one compartment is a vacuum
device that intakes confetti and launches it out. The second
chamber holds the confetti. The divider wall between the two
compartments is where the intake is, mounted high on the wall
to eliminate the chance of non-confetti getting stuck in the
airstream (a certain relief to the fowl in the area). You can
put the confetti in through an intake port in the storage area
or it can be stored in a reservoir connected to a storage chamber
by a hose.

Bazooka
Joe
Omnisistem’s T-2 Bazooka laser, housed
in a compact aluminum tube (if you’re color conscious, you can
have it customized) works in both stand-alone mode or can be
controlled by a DMX-512 controller or seriel (Oracle software)
DB-25 (ILDA standard). You can store content on board and upload
it to the head through the DMX 512 line of serial and DB-25
ports. It can scan at 60K and project at 64-degrees. It cools
itself using thermal electric (TE) self-cooling and sucks up
100-220 VAC self-switching @ 100 watts. Bazookas are available
in solid-state green 60mW, 200mW, 500mW, and 3-Watts, RGB 120mW
solid-state and Multi-color RGY in 95mW.

surface — and a full version of Visiosonic’s PCDJ software to
complement your personal computer. The DMC uses a control surface
similar to Numark’s CDN32S CD player, so you can work with sophisticated
software in a familiar format. The DMC lets you manage a full
MP3 library, user settable pitch control, automated beat matching,
true instant start and multiple cue points. With the PCDJ Digital
1200 SL software, you can upgrade the software online and take
advantage of plug-ins so you can stay at the speed of technology.

Boost
Your Gigs
Your
Palm Pilot overloaded? Your cell phone ringing constantly? PowerGig’s
online booking system is a gig management system designed to
let you find and book gigs online, as well as manage your calendar,
venue details, directions and promotion. It frees you from the
administrative hassles of booking your DJ service, like faxing,
phone tag, calendar management, and those pesky directions so
you can get back to what you do best. The system is designed
for venue booking, too, by giving you, as well as your favorite
venues, a detailed profile online that includes booking information
and links to your, and their, web sites. You can let venues
know about your availability submitting inquiries to venues
or vice versa. The site’s organized so you can search for specific
types of performers or venues and then book them online. Both
parties can negotiate online, and the gig details are saved
securely. When the gig is confirmed, both your and the venue’s
calendars are automatically updated and promoted. Gigs listed
or booked on PowerGig can be automatically promoted to numerous
event-listing sites, saving you a lot of time and energy on
promoting your event. Once the show’s over, the software even
lets you rate the venue on its professionalism.
