Peace Process

Peace Division
Tide NS
New deep-house mix CD offers up some serious grooves, compliments of remix/productiona team Peace Division. A 12-track underground extravaganza delivers on all fronts with gorgeous cuts like the sultry “Departure” by Boob Jazz, the moody “Prospect Drive” by Rhythm Plate, “Like I Like It” by Charly’s Vault, the funky beat-drenched “Protons” by Kenneth Graham, and so on. Most of these cuts may not show up on your commercial radar, but they are absolutely house-club essentials and are mixed together with love by Peace Division. Don’t pass this one up because it’s what deep house is all about.

"Lifetime To Love"
CeCe Peniston
4Play Records
The unforgettable voice that sang “Finally” and other hits makes a triumphant return to clubland and delivers a fresh, rich and soulful vocal. The “Rosabel Attitude Remix” adds a sexy bass groove and the tribal beats make this perfect for any peak-hour set.
– Joe Bermudez

"Masquerade"
Science

DM
Produced by original hip-house master Doug Lazy, “Masquerade” commands attention from beginning to end. Tandalayo Moore lays down a strong lead vocal over a freestyle-friendly, progressive dance beat and addictive groove that quickly draw you in. Recommended with a bullet. 132.9 BPM.
– Peter A. Colón

"You Are The One"

Elisha La'Verne
King Street
Satoshi Tomiie slams this hard-hitting big-room vocal cut. With an uncanny ear for dark and heavy sounds, he melds this wicked female vocal with some incredible elements. Different, but tough.
– Shawn Christopher

"I'm Like A Bird"

Nelly Furtado
Dreamworks
On Junior Vasquez’s mix, he offers plenty of beefed-up keyboard stabs that will set your dancefloor free throughout the night. Already an anthem at New York’s Twilo, hear first-hand for yourself.
– Joe Bermudez

“Touch Me, Feel Me”

Mike Takeover
FullBlast
This blistering progressive house single is definitely an assault on the senses and the hips. Producer Mike Sottosanti (aka Takeover) pushes the envelope with a hard-charging, adrenaline-pumping piece that also drops some wicked classic club samples – can you say Loleatta? Hold onto your seats as both mixes deliver long drum rolls, epic synth breaks and pumpin’ vibes.
– Phil Turnipseed

"Here With Me"
Dido
Arista
Here, Johnny Vicious remixes Dido into a club sensation. His mix is another uptempo, New York trance monster that I have come to love from him. With Dido’s soothing voice and an incredible breakdown that will send chills up your spine, this is not to be missed.
– Joe Bermudez

"I Believe"

Ricky Montanari
Azuli
This screaming vocal house record is already being blasted by the likes of David Morales and features mixes by the Pasta Boys. With a bassline from heaven and a hot diva turning out inspirational vocals, this import is a peak-hour crowd worker. Try to get your hands on one.
– Shawn Christopher

"A Nite Grooves" EP

YMC
Nite Grooves
Although all the cuts on this EP have some potential, “Man In A Green Shirt” is the essential one to add to your list. A tough deep-house vibe that has a juicy synth driven rhythm track, this is what house music is all about – an instantly irresistible synth hook with a pumpin’ bass line. No vocals, but the vibe is all the way live. Do not miss!
– Phil Turnipseed

"Bee Sting Smile"
Sugarglider
NAMJ
From across the big pond has comes another club track with great crossover potential. This 12-inch single features three strong mixes, while the CD single runs a whole range of choices. Rolling through mixes like “Sugarglider Original Mix” and “D-Bop Beam Me Up Mix,” the vinyl version is a great example of a combination of Euro house and U.S. underground hard at work. The standout cut by far is the “Sunscreem Tranced Out Eclipse Mix,” which pounds the point home for 10 minutes and features some of Sunscreem’s “Love U More” flavor.
– Michael Taylor

"Summer Jam"

The Underdog Project
Radikal
It’s a strange time of the year for a song like this to come out, but if you are looking for a sure-fire, quick fix for all your winter blues, “Summer Jam” is the answer. The tune’s warm melody and killer chorus will have your dancefloor sweating, while its uptempo, Florida freestyle-flavored backbeat will have hands in the air. Hot! 127.1 BPM.
– Peter A. Colón

"Papa's Got A Brand New Pipe Bag"
Thunderpuss
Tommy Boy Silver
This track is exactly why I love these guys to death – classic Thunderpuss here. It’s cutting-edge production with a crossover potential that you are helpless to resist on a dancefloor. Let’s just say that Papa’s got a brand new anthem.
– Joe Bermudez

"What Makes The Girls Dance"
DJ X
Xquizit Records
This anthemic breakbeat track features two energy-driven 12-inch cuts that are already lighting up Florida dancefloors. Catchy with light vocals and solid hooky sounds, “What Makes the Girls Dance” is a solid follow-up to DJ X’s “Use Your Luv.” Breakbeat spinners should be on the lookout for this one.
– Michael Taylor

"I Am Who I Am"
Lara Fabian
Columbia
Hex Hector’s amazing mix of “I Will Love Again” made Lara Fabian one of the biggest dance acts of 2000, so together again they have created a massive anthem. Using those lush retro-sounding keyboards similar to his Natalie Cole remix to create some incredible energy, Hex then lets Lara’s vocal drive this track home.
– Joe Bermudez

"Rode Rouge"
St. Germain
Blue Note
This is jazz house in its purest form with a heavy bassline, incredible hi-hats, amazing jazz chords and a funky vocal. Check the remixes by Blaze, who takes it to another level with some genius keyboard work.
– Shawn Christopher

"My Name Is Barbarella"
Sven Vath
Warner Music
The two epic Deep Dish mixes – “the Armageddon Breakdown Mix” and the “Super Nova Remix” – are massive. Careful on the speakers – the kick in these mixes is mind blowing. You can’t help but move to this phenomenal bassline. One mix is a little more trancey than the other, but there’s no denying this record’s potential on the dancefloor.
– Shawn Christopher

"Bee Sting Smile"
Sugarglider
NAMJ
This instantly infectious commercial houser delivers an engaging rhythm track and catchy Euro-styled vocals. With elements of progressive house, deep house and a hint of trance, “Bee Sting” could be a sleeper, especially the epic Sunscreem mix. Long synth-driven breaks and an electro deep bass highlight this mix, while the haunting vocals give this cut much character. This mix, along with the housey original, should give this single a long turntable life.
– Phil Turnipseed
