The Glaciator from Jem is designed to do the work of three phase fog machines on a 13-amp power supply and a bottle of Jem Standard Heavy Fog Fluid. The Glaciator is a fully integrated, self contained, “plug-in and go” low fog generating system, which means that it doesn’t need CO2 cylinders and separate fog machines to work. Compatible with all external DMX sources, the Glaciator has an optional Power Ducting Adapter (PDA) that lets you attach ducting to the front of the machine so you can pump heavy fog to those more awkward locations, like, say, the bathrooms. The adapter has a built-in booster fan that helps project the effect along longer lengths of ducting. Other features include an on-board fog control and temperature monitoring, auto timer facility, and DMX input for external control.

Created in a joint venture between Akai and Syntaur Productions, Akai’s latest addition to its MPC sounds library is three samples, packaged neatly in CD ROM form for your MPC2000 and MPC2000XL samplers. Titled “Drumz Phatta Than Momma,” the CD ROM holds 1,080 kicks, 900 snares and rimshots, plus 900 hi-hats and percussion sounds. Lest you think these sounds come to you untouched, Akai has already tweaked and programmed them on the MPC itself. Every pad in all four banks is programmed with a different drum sound, so you wind up with 64 different sounds per drum kit.

Looking for a way to copy a lot of CDs without waiting around forever? The ComposerPro Optical Disc Duplicator thinks it could be the answer to your prayers. Designed for high volume replication, the ComposerPro uses dual CD-R or DVD-R recorders and a large media input bin to record. You can print up to 100 discs of your demo per batch. You can also duplicate any digital information, including music, audio, video and photo. Just like those carnival games, a “pick-and-place” robotic arm picks up discs from the input bin and puts them in the CD-R or DVD-R recorders. After they’re recorded, discs are placed to an optional Primera Technology ink-jet or thermal transfer optical disc printer where they can be printed up in full color (up to 2400 dpi). The ComposerPro is designed so that once a job is started, you can leave it to finish by itself. ComposerPro comes with PrimoCD Pro duplication software.

The new six-speaker MVP Series from Community features three full-range, two-way cabinets, a pair of floor monitors and Thermal Link high-frequency driver protection. The line is built with a low-mass, high frequency compression driver with a non-metallic diaphragm so distortion isn’t a big concern. The Thermal Link circuit is designed to automatically adjust to a changing protective threshold, based on driver temperature. Solid state and self-resetting, this network lets each enclosure run at maximum output without the risk of speaker damage. Each enclosure is made of MDF board covered with black carpeting. Rubber feet, recessed handles, Ľ-inch input connectors and perforated 16-gauge steel grilles come with all models. Interlocking corner protectors protect your speakers from the rigors of stacking and T-nut mounting points are also included.

Steinberg's In NUENDO

Steinberg North America
21354 Nordoff Street #110
Chatsworth, CA 91311
(818) 678-5106
www.us.steinberg.net

Steinberg´s NUENDO DD8 converter is a compact 1U 19-inch rack-mounting device that converts digital signals in ADAT, TDIF and AES/EBU. With its eight channels of AES/EBU input and output and switchable 24-bit sample rate converters (SRC), it’s designed to allow for both highest quality sample rate conversion and clock unlinking of all AES/EBU inputs. The DD8’s three basic functionalities are conversion between digital formats, sample rate conversion and digital patch bay functionality for splitting digital signals. All of the DD8’s digital I/Os support 96kHz/24-bit. As ADAT optical and TDIF are usually restricted to 48kHz, the DS mode (double speed) lets two channels be used for the transmission of one channel’s data. The sample split algorithm used is compatible to S/MUX and Double Wide, and is also used in the Nuendo 8 I/O, Nuendo 8 I/O 96k and the Nuendo 96/52 PCI audio card so you can use the Nuendo DD8 with any of the Nuendo hardware components. Other features include Intelligent Clock Control (ICC), SyncCheck, SyncAlign, Bitclock PLL, digital patchbay functions, and active jitter reduction through SD-PLL and 96kHz/24bit sample rate conversion. AES/EBU to ADAT/TDIF and ADAT/TDIF to AES/EBU work both entirely independently and intelligently coupled. Dedicated LEDs display the state of the incoming and outgoing signals and all operations currently running inside the device.
