DJ Takes Command
American DJ has introduced the XDM-3633 Commander three-zone
mixer. Six lines, three phonos and three mic inputs let DJs
control up to three separate music or audio programs in different
rooms or zones simultaneously. The unit controls bass, mid,
treble and other audio functions and provides a separate stereo
and mono switch for each zone. The talk-over level control allows
the user to broadcast announcements to one zone at a time, or
all three simultaneously. Part of the company’s PROformer
Plus line, the mixer includes balanced XLR outputs, a replaceable
Feather Fader, beat LEDs on the control panel and the ability
to send and receive loop for special effects and sampled sounds.

Middle Atlantic’s new series of studio-grade oak laminate
racks come in 8-, 12-, 16- and 20-space versions. Each rack
measures 18-inches deep and was designed to complement the OSR
series, which are slope-faced cabinets available in 16- and
24-space versions measuring 19-½-inches deep at the top and
23-inches at the bottom. Both styles of racks use ¼-turn fasteners,
secured from the inside with a provided tool.

Sees the Light
QSC Audio has released the PowerLight 9.0 PFC power amplifier.
Using Power Factor Correction technology, this amp delivers
1,800 watts per channel at 8 ohms, 3,200 watts per channel at
4 ohms and 4,500 watts per channel at 2 ohms. Line and load
regulation further enhance the amp’s power capacity, according
to the company. Large-die, N-channel MOSFETs combine with a
four-tiered DC supply to operate in the linear mode with low
noise and distortion. The PL 9.0 uses surface mount components,
a data port for amplifier mointoring and flow-through cooling
with variable-speed fans. Outputs use Neutrik Speakons and special
speaker terminals.

Goes Platinum
Gemini Sound Products has expanded its Platinum Series with
three 19-inch stereo rack mounting mixers. The PS-700, PS-800
and PS-900 have four stereo channel, three phono/line convertible
inputs, five line and three mic inputs. Each mixer also has
assignable and removable crossfaders, loop inputs and outputs
and a DJ mic input with talkover via a Neutrik combo XLR or
¼-inch jack. All three units have balanced master outputs and
a peak hold dual mode dis- play. The PS-800 offers six sound
ef- fects and an echo section, while the PS-900 includes a 24-second
digital sampler with five memory banks and bat- tery backup.

Wires in Their Traqs
Traqtape, distributed by Quinco, Inc., is a protective sleeve
designed to keep electronic and electrical cables, wires and
cords in place. The hand-tearable, repositionable cloth is edge-coated
with a cured resin adhesive that does not leave residue on any
surface. Traqtape is currently available in matte black or yellow
in 4-inch and 6-inch width by 20 yards, however, the company
says it has plans for additional sizes and colors in the future.

Bags from Odyssey
A new line of gig bags from Odyssey Innovative Designs are manufactured
from 840 denier ballistic nylon with #10 zippers with matte
silver finished zipper pulls displaying the Odyssey logo. The
LPDJ-100 and LPDJ-50 hold 100 and 50 LPs, respectively. Both
have a zippered pocket and 1-inch-thick thermal protective foam.
The PRODJ-BP, a combination brief/shoulder/backpack bag holds
50 LPs and has two zippered pouches under the Velcro flap. The
PRODJ-SP is a shoulder pack bag that also holds 50 LPs and includes
two pinch release buckle clusures, large zippered pockets on
the front flap and on the rear and a zippered pouch under the
front flap. The DJ-SP and DJ-BP, a shoulder pack and backpack,
both hold 30 LPs and include full foam padding around the bag.

XL-500
Turntable from Gemini
The direct-drive manual XL-500 turntable from Gemini has adjustable
pitch control, strobe illuminator, anti-skate adjustment, a
pop-up target light and XLR lamp adaptor. The 26-pound unit,
which includes a headshell, also comes with a dust cover, S-shaped
tone arm and solenoid electric brake.
