PMC-400
Adds Alps Fader
Vestax
Corporation - distributed Stateside via Numark's Vestax America
- has based its new PMC-400 house mixer on the PMC-46mk2, adding
an Alps high quality fader for the input and master level controls.
The 45-mm professional fader replaces the rotary faders used
on the 46mk2. The PMC-400 also uses a VCA-controlled crossfader
with variable curve control and an analog VU master level meter
for faster level checking. An additional option meter allows
pre-fader level checking prior to the actual mix. Advanced mixing
can be accomplished with the help of the AUX send and return
and Sub Master output.

Q-Tron
Pushes the Envelope

The new Q-TRON+
envelope follower from Electro-Harmonix takes all the functions
of the original Q-TRON and adds a built-in effects loop and
Attack Response Control. The effects loop allows users to place
a sound effect between the Q-TRON+'s envelope detection circuitry
and filter sections without changing the envelope drive. The
harmonics created by a distortion pedal can be processed by
the filter without degradation to the signal's natural envelope,
and with full dynamic response. The Attack Response Control
lets the user choose between the fast response of the original
Q-TRON or a slow, smooth attack.

Steinberg
Expands ReCycle
Steinberg
North America and Propellerheads software has released version
1.7 of the award-winning editing software, ReCycle. Available
for MacOS and Windows 98/NT platforms, ReCycle prepares drum
loops for use in samplers by analyzing and slicing them. It
then creates the necessary audio elements and transfers them
to the sampler while saving the required MIDI sequencer data
to disk. Version 1.7 of the software has been completely rewritten
to prepare for future major enhancements, according to the company.
ReCycle 1.7 has a revised and enhanced user interface, plus
new sampler drivers. The application is now 32-bit and supports

Energy
The
new Energy series of power amplifiers from Spain's D.A.S. Audio,
distributed by Sennheiser, uses Discrete Monolithic Amplifier
Technology. DMAT couples self-managed amplification cells with
Parallel-Bridge Topology to form a single output. Each of these
cells includes an active limiting circuit that impedes prolonged
signal clip and protects the speaker. The amplifier is also
nearly immune to damage from voltage oscillations, short-circuits,
thermal runaway and instantaneous pressure peaks.

Your IQ

For DJs who
control and monitor their audio components via Crown's IQ-System,
ETA Systems has introduced the PD10VRS AC Line Voltage Regulator.
The microprocessor-based PD10VRS can be used with an IQ-System
to provide clear, stabilized power to effects, processor, video
and amplifier racks. In addition to stabilizing sags and surges
between 80 and 150 volts, the PD10VRS provides EMI-RFI filtration
and protection against abnormal spikes. A sequential turn-on
function further manages the high in-rush of current at power-up.
The unit's "Auto Start" function restarts the audio system following
a complete power shut-down only when incoming power demonstrates
a continued and confirmed flow of sustained power.

JBL Offers SR-X

JBL Professional's
SR-X Series of speakers use the same level of components offered
in the company's installed and touring sound systems, in a portable
package designed for club and mobile DJs and other musicians.
The SR-X Series is available in 11 configurations. Upgrades
from the original SR Series include an advanced network design,
pure titanium diaphragm compression drivers mounted to Optimized
