Detroit—Things got wild and a little wet, but once again, Movement rocked it in the Motor City.

Held this past Memorial Day weekend in Detroit’s Hart Plaza, the techno-centric festival also served as a massive platform for the launch of the 2010 America’s Best DJ Summer Tour. According to festival organizers Paxahau, the festival’s first two days drew over 67,000 fans. (At press time, the numbers weren’t available for Monday’s rainy proceedings.) Presented by Pioneer DJ and DJ Times, the ABDJ Summer Tour will include 20 dates and will run through Labor Day.

Movement’s five stages included hot sets from six America’s Best DJ nominees—Josh Wink, Claude VonStroke, Martinez Brothers, Derrick Carter, Theo Parrish and Stacey Pullen—and much more. DJ Times was there with a dedicated booth that took hundreds of paper ballots from ABDJ voters, all of whom earned a chance to win a plethora of prizes. (www.americasbestdj.net)

Other Movement highlights:
*Plastikman, Richie Hawtin’s alter-ego, presented a gigantic LED screen that barked and bleated electronic signals as if it were an alien craft—scary stuff on the Vitamin Water main stage.

*Robert Hood, Detroit’s original minimal man, turned out the Made in Detroit underground stage and schooled the techno kiddies with the real deal.

*Booka Shade, the German production duo, offered up a tasty live show of their deeply melodic mix of electro and techno at the Red Bull Music Academy stage.

*Mauro Piccotto, the Italian techno vet, defied the elements and turned the rain-swept Ford Torino tent into a swinging party.

*dOP, a weirdo French trio, re-imagined Parisian café music for the Beatport Stage dancefloor—and their MC, Lelli, was a madman.
