DJ QBert was officially awarded the 2010 America’s Best DJ title this past Saturday, Oct. 2, at Ghostbar in The Palms in Las Vegas.

The award show and closing party at the Rain nightclub—with QBert, Scotty Boy and Manufactured Superstars on the decks—culminated the three-month-long event, which included a 23-stop ABDJ Summer Tour presented by DJ Times magazine and title sponsor Pioneer DJ. That’s a lot of cocktails.

After finishing second in the ’08 and ’09 ABDJ voting, the legendary Bay Area turntablist earned the spoils of the prestigious title. Z-Trip, the 2009 winner, handed over the specially engraved, gold-plated Pioneer DJM-800 mixer, while DJ Times editor Jim Tremayne gave QBert a plaque commemorating his title.

Pioneer’s Davey Dave Arevalo then took the mic. “We want to offer our genuine congratulations to QBert for winning this award,” he said. “It’s a long time coming, but we have mad respect for QBert. It’s ironic that QBert, a turntablist, won this year because Pioneer doesn’t make a lot of products for turntablists. But it’s not about that for us—it’s about furthering the artform and respecting the DJs who do that. Congratulations, QBert!”

In addition to title sponsor Pioneer DJ, we at DJ Times would like to thank the America’s Best DJ co-sponsors—The Palms, The N9NE Group, Novation and Beatport. We look forward to greater things for ABDJ in 2011 and beyond.
