Boston’s own Will Monotone is gearing up for the release of his first artist album In Colour on February 2, but DJ Times is giving you a special advance listen to four of the LP’s house shakers today.
Set for release on Will’s own Sub Society label, the album is a 21-track epic that comes as the result of nearly three years of work that traverses the limits of house, tech-house, and techno.
“This album took me roughly 3 years to complete, because I wanted to make sure that I vibed with each track. I took my time and gave full attention to each collaboration with the friends and artists that I respect. Making a 21-track album where each record sounds different and fresh, yet still maintaining my specific sound, was not an easy task. I couldn’t be happier with the end result.”
For the four-track DJ Times preview, Will shows off his diverse sonic palate with a smattering of styles. Opening with the vibing deep house of “Rules of The World,” Will keeps it groovy before teaming up with J Paul Getto on the furious, NYC-inspired club cut “No Taxes.” “Old Skool Fool” takes proceedings into decidedly quirky tech-house regions, with an update to his 2012 original “Dem Mai Hoes” following suit with rubbery basslines and a spoken vocal.
You can hear all four tracks below ahead of the LP’s release next week. For more information, go to Will Monotone’s Facebook page.
