What a summer it’s been on the America’s Best DJ Summer Tour Presented by Pioneer DJ & DJ Times. After more than 15 tour stops and thousands of ballots collected, we’ve reached the final week of voting for America’s Best DJ 2014.
We took the nightshift down in Atlantic City for DJ Skribble, who played the official DJ Expo afterparty at Ego Lounge in the Trump Taj Mahal on August 13. It was an energetic set that featured blurred genre lines start-to-finish, from deep house beginnings—including a particularly rousing bootleg pitting Passion Pit vocals with Oliver $ and Jimi Jules’ recent single “Pushin’ On”—to a fiery electro house climax before ending with a retro disco-soul finale. The New York-based DJ was in it for the long haul, with a set beginning around 11 PM and raging until the early morning hour of 4 AM.
Later that week, we headed down south to catch Roonie G play at Columbus, GA’s Mix Ultra Lounge. Roonie delivered his signature combination of music and video, deftly mixing the two for a multimedia sensory experience that’s unlike anything else out there. With a party-ready crowd and no shortage of fun to be had, it served as a fitting finale to a summer’s worth of late nights and louder music.
As per every ABDJ event, DJ Times collected votes at a dedicated booth. Each voter is entered for a chance to win prizes from sponsors Pioneer DJ and G-Shock, as well as a trip for two to Las Vegas for the America’s Best DJ Award Ceremony/Closing Party on Oct. 12, at which the DJ having earned the most votes will be crowned and presented with a gold-plated Pioneer DJM-900nxs mixer.
Although the tour is over, you can still enter to win the grand prize by voting here by Monday, September 1 at midnight. Don’t miss out on your chance to win!
We’ll see you in Las Vegas.
