Bayside, N.Y. – DJs, the time has come to help one of our own.

It is with sad regret and a heavy heart that this GoFundMe page has been built. Our friend in the entertainment community – NYC-based DJ/MC and all-around great person, Robert “Boogie Bob” Kelly – has been diagnosed with advanced stages of ALS. So I am organizing a fundraiser for Boogie Bob.

The event is set for Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Supper Room in Bayside, Queens (38-17 Bell Blvd., 11361). Running from 7 pm to 11 or 12, the event will see many of Bob’s DJ-friends play and there will be a gear raffle to raise even more for his cause. A donation of at least $20 is requested upon entry.

If you know Boogie Bob, then you know what an amazing person he is. If you know ALS, you also know the disease has no boundaries, and no cure. Like most of us in this industry, Boogie has no 401(k) plan, no retirement and certainly no steady job.

As you are reading this, Bob is in a rehabilitation center where staff is trying to keep him comfortable. He has no more use of his hands and is barely able to breathe on his own. If that’s not enough, Boogie Bob’s lovely wife, Donna, has cancer and, with her treatments and prevailing condition, she is unable to take care of Bob properly.

We all want Bob to be able to go home, be looked after and be made comfortable. In addition to day-to-day living expenses, a day nurse is needed. Please share this GoFundMe page and donate what you can. Your help is needed – DJs, let’s come together as community and do the right thing! Thank you.

Again, here’s Bob’s GoFundMe page. Please be generous and we hope to see you at the Supper Room on Feb. 28.
