Quickly becoming one of the hottest names in the game with hard-hitting house being the genre of choice throughout the electronic dance community as of late, Dillon Nathaniel has quickly become a force to be reckoned with.

After lighting up the summer festival circuit and buzzing of the release of his Do It Again EP, the budding house connoisseur has taken the time to share a few production tips!

Not only is his new collaboration with John Summit out today, but Nathaniel has revealed a couple of tips producers can use in the studio when it comes to cooking up house heaters.

Check out Dillon Nathaniel‘s complete list below.

1. Less is more. Limit yourself to only 10 tracks per song. Make sure the tracks work well with each other.

2. Use stock plugins on all your tracks unless it’s a track you really want to stand out. It will give your mix a lot more contrast.

3. Don’t throw compression on everything. Compression is used to control dynamics so most samples come controlled. Only use on live recordings.

4. Only make 3 db cuts or boosts with your EQs. I usually don’t boost the gain on my EQs.

5. Choose a kick drum that stands alone. You want to be able to listen to the kick by itself and be impressed with the sound. Your bass should wrap around your kick.

BONUS 6. Use reference songs to gain inspiration on arranging styles.
