The DJ industry’s leading trade show/exhibition is collaborating with Tribe XR to provide attendees with a taste of the future.

DJ Expo, an annual experiential event featuring exhibits, educational conferences, demos and After Dark networking events, is collaborating with Tribe XR, a San Francisco-based VR company, to showcase the latest in VR technology and reveal its inevitable impact on the DJ industry.

Supported by DJ Times magazine and produced by The Hazan Media Group, the show will run Aug. 9-12 at the Etess Arena at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City.

As part of the collaboration, DJX attendees will be able to book an immersive 10-minute VR DJ experience with an Oculus Quest 2 headset, where they can DJ on virtual replicas of Pioneer DJ CDJ-3000 decks and DJM-900NXS2 mixers.

The Tribe XR installation at DJX will feature VR DJ performances by seasoned Tribe XR DJs including LODATO and Mark Gallo, as well as exhibit a cutting-edge Video Call system, which promises to deepen the potential for immersive learning and interaction between DJs and audience members on platforms and metaverses like Twitch, Sansar, Altspace and Youtube.

“As the DJ industry evolves, we have to evolve with it,” says DJ Times Editor Jim Tremayne. “That’s true for all our platforms, and especially so with our new moves with DJX.”

Tom Impallomeni, co-founder and CEO of Tribe XR, added: “Learning how to DJ and collaborating with people around the world in VR are, we believe, killer use-cases for VR and AR, and we are delighted to collab with DJX and showcase Tribe’s collaboration with Pioneer DJ to their attendees. The Tribe XR immersive experience showcasing at DJX is a perfect fit for us, with their focus on forward-thinking technology to enable an innovative, market-leading customer experience.”

Shawn Hazan, co-founder and CEO of The Hazan Media Group, said: “Our collaboration with Tribe XR and their team is a natural progression in our commitment to reimagine the event experience and become more future-thinking. It is also aligned with our goal to provide solutions that lend to the health of the DJ community.”
